Regional Director for Metro New York

 

Position Overview

The Metro New York Regional Director will develop, plan, and facilitate innovative Jewish learning opportunities at independent high schools in New York and New Jersey. He/She will work with students, administrators and professionals to enhance Jewish cultural exploration and identity empowerment.  He/She will also work with independent school communities to contextualize TCI’s programs within school efforts to grow and sustain vibrant multicultural life.  The coordinator will work closely with young people to build supportive peer communities on campus and will serve as a Jewish educational resource for the wide school community.  Ideal candidates for this position will have superior interpersonal skills, experience in multicultural/youth education, and a strong Jewish identity. 

 

The TCI Regional Director position is an opportunity to create and facilitate innovative social and educational programs that will appeal to Jewish youth across a wide spectrum of Jewish interest, background, and affiliation.

Reports to: Executive Director

 

Major Responsibilities:

·      Establish the region’s strategic vision and action plan

·      Facilitate school-based Jewish programming:

o       Develop familiarity with each school’s culture and educational program

o       Work with students, teachers, and administrators to contextualize TCI’s program within a school’s existing or growing multicultural initiatives

o       Work with Jewish students to develop need-based programming

o       Identify community partners and resources for programming

o       Research and apply emerging educational trends in forming themes and topics for student learning groups and programs

 

Additional Responsibilities:

·      Work with the program staff in developing and implementing TCI’s “Jewbilee” national conference, Jewish-themed trips and other inter-school programs

·      Link Jewish students to Jewish engagement opportunities with other organizations

·      Establish new school relationships and track school engagement

·      Attend meetings, write reports and fulfill other administrative responsibilities as directed

·      Communicate with regional stakeholders through newsletters and other means

·      Promote and represent TCI in the Jewish and independent school communities

·      Establish and cultivate relationships with potential donors

 

Some travel, evening and weekend work is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum three+ years post-college experience; master’s degree desired

·        Experience in Jewish education/cultural outreach

  • Experience working with teens, ideally in experiential Jewish education
  • Experience in curriculum writing and/program development
  • Superior interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work creatively and independently.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to be a contributing member of the TCI team

o       Identify community partners and resources for programming

o       Research and apply emerging educational trends in forming themes and topics for student learning groups and programs

·      Link Jewish students to Jewish engagement opportunities with other organizations

·      Assist the Regional Director in establishing new school relationships and tracking school engagement

·      Attend meetings, write reports and fulfill other administrative responsibilities as directed

 

Occasional travel, evening and weekend work is required.
