The Curriculum Initiative (TCI) is the leading Jewish educational organization serving independent schools. Through extra-curricular programming, presentations to student bodies and professional development, TCI strengthens Jewish students’ Jewish identity and nurtures school communities’ appreciation for the Jewish heritage.

TCI provides students high-caliber, pluralistic and experiential and text-based programs that emerge from their personal interests. Our staff and educators are professionally prepared to design programs that address a school's interest.

TCI operates in three regions: Metro New York, where we are headquartered, New England, and the San Francisco Bay area. We currently provide programming for 2200 students in more than 50 schools.

Schoolwide and classroom presentations invite all students to explore contemporary issues and topics through a Jewish perspective, and are structured to address a school's specific interests.

Extracurricular programs provide the intellectually and socially compelling activities students appreciate. TCI facilitates Jewish clubs, holiday events, social action projects and other activities that nurture meaningful connections to Judaism.

Jewbilee is the premier annual gathering for Jewish prep school students, who spend a weekend exploring their Jewish identity, networking and creating long-lasting relationships.

Interschool events engage students in intensive Jewish-themed experiences, including community service, holiday celebrations, and programs on Jewish life at college.

Summer Institutes are TCI's signature professional development opportunities for independent school English, religion and humanities teachers, chaplains and administrators:

  • Teaching Ethics provides teachers with tools to foster critical thinking and open communication about ethics. Participants learn teaching strategies drawn fromthe Jewish tradition; examine primary source passages of ethical wisdom; and learn how to implement the content in the classroom.
  • Teaching Hebrew Bible engages teachers in intensive study of biblical texts and exegetical techniques, with emphasis on bringing institute content back to the classroom.
